Chiton are a type of mollusk that have flattened bodies that are often covered in 8 shell plates. The plates are held together by a tough girdle that the mantle forms. Chitons use their large, flat foot to attach tightly to rocks. Chitons feed on algae and other organisms that they can scrape off of the rocks with their radulae.
